Extreme Learning, Inc. discriminates based on age.
I applied for one of about 60 or 70 tutor positions with this company. They did one group interview with about 6 of us. It was extremely structured where we had to write down what each other said to questions, which was subject to each other's interpretation. For some reason, although I had just received my BS in 12/2007 and had a GPA of 3.9, I wasn't good enough for this company. I am left to believe it was based on my age. I would think twice before hiring them to tutor your child unless you want them to learn how a company discriminates.

Discrimination in Employment
I applied for a position as a tutor with Extreme Learning.com. I have a BS and graduated with a 3.9 GPA in 12/2007. The company said they needed between 60 and 70 online tutors to start 9/2009. I attended one group interview with 5 other people, some with no degree. I thought I would be considered, but when I called a week later they denied me employment with no specific reason for it. I can only assume that this may have been age based as there was no other reason for it. I would think twice before having my kids tutored by this organization.

I do not believe Extreme Learning Center discriminates by age. I was hired fresh out of high school, with an ok GPA (3.0), but I worked well with kids and was patient enough to teach them things. Dont believe everything you hear, sometimes the best teachers are the worst students.
Extreme Learning doesn't discriminate based on age. I worked there last year and there were several employees around retirement age. I do believe that they don't hire people who are good students but wouldn't be effective tutors, so maybe there was an issue there.
And what on earth is scamfan talking about?
I'm thinking about applying for a position there. This review doesn't really help.
I mean, can you be more specific?
Too old, too young? What exactly are you talking about?
People, they are a scam if it's not a real www site but a "re-direct". The ones on Cragislist who say they are the www site aren't and are a clever Craigslist scam.
Here's how it works. A parent who lives out of the area, maybe out of the country, will pay you too much in advance for a child they want you to tutor (though you have not met them but developed an online relationship with that parent) and they will ask that you simply refund them the extra via moneygram like western union.
It will turn out they don't have funds and you just paid them. Don't take tutoring jobs from Craigslist in most cases, especially if the site is a Chinese re-direct such as a taleo.
or maybe they knew you were a little whiny ***. Sorry anonymous but there are a lot of older people that work there. Deuces!
I am sick to death of age discrimination! Look how many older people in our society need jobs. I hope they rise up in (verbal) rebellion soon.
Hiring based on age is nothing new. Does the local city fire & police hire older people to help serve and protect?
*** no! I guess young agile minds need to be taught by young agile teachers. I would try Dunkin Donuts.
They hired my Uncle Glenn and he was 77. :)
